Design Features

The design basis of the BKP™ Series lies in the Dinh Dehumidifier Heat Pipe principle. By incorporating a patented process of passively precooling and reheating air, the BKP™ is able to provide greater performance and is more energy efficient. The result is a dehumidification system with the ability to remove 40% to 50% more moisture than other systems while using the same amount of energy.

redball.GIF (1529 bytes)  Narrow Band Settings -- The dehumidistat allows narrow band settings for specific relative humidity requirements.

redball.GIF (1529 bytes)  Filters -- Commercial grade filters are standard.

redball.GIF (1529 bytes)  Drain Pan -- Drain pan designed with minimum retention of water

redball.GIF (1529 bytes)  Blower -- Quiet, lower RPM, direct drive, squirrel cage blower.

redball.GIF (1529 bytes)  Remote Condenser -- With all BKP-AC™ models, a high efficiency remote condenser is included for air conditioning operation.

redball.GIF (1529 bytes)  Change Over -- "Shift on the Fly" indoor/outdoor switching valve for dehumidification or air conditioning mode.

redball.GIF (1529 bytes)  Casters -- For the BKP™ 100 and 175, casters can be ordered for ease of moving and placing. Casters are standard for BKP™ 750, 1000, and 1250.

redball.GIF (1529 bytes)  Quality Cabinet -- Heavy duty power coated galvanized steel cabinet.

Benefits

redball.GIF (1529 bytes)   Accurate Humidity Control -- The BKP™ self-regulates the relative humidity within a narrow band, turning itself on and off for constant humidity levels down to the 40% RH within ± 3%.

redball.GIF (1529 bytes)   Replaces Dehumidification Reheat -- In this application, the BKP™can provide the same amount of dehumidification for about one-third of the energy normally used in electric reheat. For air conditioning using hot gas reheat, the BKP™ uses approximately half the energy normally required.

redball.GIF (1529 bytes)  Avoid IAQ Problems Associated with High Humidity -- Those who suffer from allergies will be amazed at the difference healthier indoor air can provide. As humidity is reduced below 60%, mold, mildew and dust mite propagation is arrested.

redball.GIF (1529 bytes)   Prevent Moisture Related Damages -- Humidity related deterioration affecting artwork, books, walls, carpets and other furnishings is prevented. Remodeling due to moisture damage can often be avoided.

redball.GIF (1529 bytes)  Self Regulating Air Conditioning -- The BKP-AC™ will automatically change over from the high dehumidification mode to the dehumidification/air conditioning mode depending on the inside temperature.

A receiver shall be installed to provide additional refrigerant for remote condenser mode. A temperature controlled valve shall be installed to switch to either the indoor or the outdoor remote condenser. A head pressure control in the refrigerant line controls the condenser fan operation. The total charge of refrigerant for the indoor and outdoor units plus an additional charge for the line set is to be weighted in at installation.

redball.GIF (1529 bytes) HEAT PIPES

HPT’s patented dehumidifier heat pipes shall be installed wrapping around the evaporator coil for the purpose of precooling the incoming air and reheating the supply air. This results in increased moisture removal by the evaporator and a lower relative humidity of the supply air. HPT’s dehumidifier heat pipes are passive, but ultra-fast heat transfer devices and are constructed with microgrooved copper tubes and aluminum fins. They shall be evacuated and charged with the appropriate amount of working fluid, then sealed and tested for proper operation and performance.

redball.GIF (1529 bytes) BLOWER, FAN AND MOTOR

Centrifugal blowers for the indoor unit shall be of the forward curved type, statically and dynamically balanced for efficient operation. The fan motor shall be high efficiency direct drive of the permanent split capacitor (PSC) type with sleeve bearings.

redball.GIF (1529 bytes) REMOTE CONDENSER (BKP-AC Series Only): The outdoor condenser fan blades shall be heavy duty aluminum and shall be protected with a coated fan guard. The fan motor shall be a high efficiency direct drive PSC type with sleeve bearings.

redball.GIF (1529 bytes) DRAIN PAN

Drain pan shall be constructed of 20 gauge galvanized steel coated with a drip pan coating and have a 3/4" female NPT connection.

redball.GIF (1529 bytes) AIR INLET AND OUTLET

Indoor units (except BKP 100 and 175) shall have outlet 1" duct flanges. A standard filter rack is installed on the return air side of cabinet for a disposable type fiberglass air filter.

The BKP Series

Models 100 to 1250

The BKP Series (100, 175, 250, 450, 750, 1000, and 1250) are the most sophisticated and efficient dehumidification systems available on the market. The units are based on a patented heat pipe technology of HPT and designed for a wide variety of commercial and industrial applications. Due to their integrated heat pipes, the BKPs use about half the energy when compared to conventional dehumidifiers of same capacity currently on the market.

Quiet blowers and compressors make the BKP Series ideal for working environments. The BKPs are precisely controlled by a dehumidistat of HPT design to maintain a constant relative humidity, the BKPs operate independently from the central air conditioning system. Various models with water removal capacity from 100 up to 1250 pints per day.

The BKP units can operate in a wide range of environment conditions from 55°F/100% RH to 95°F/50% RH inlet air.

The BKP-AC Series with Remote Condenser for Cooling

Models 250-AC, 450-AC, 750-AC, 1000-AC, and 1250-AC

The BKP-AC™ Models are equipped with remote outside condensers, making them "Total Air Conditioning Systems". They are capable of sensing the inside air conditions and will switch automatically to the appropriate mode of high dehumidification or dehumidification and cooling. While operating in the latter mode, the system heat goes to the remote condenser to be rejected to the outside environment. The BKP™ 350-AC, 450-AC, 750-AC and 1000-AC add 2.75, 3.5, 5 and 7.5 tons, respectively, to the cooling capacity of the existing central air conditioning system.

The conventional method of using an oversized air conditioning system with reheat to dehumidify can be replaced by the BKP-AC™ dehumidifier to achieve the same purpose at a fraction of the operational cost. The BKP can also be used to treat fresh air to improve indoor air quality.

In all, the BKP Series provide state-of-the-art dehumidification at lowest operating cost. They utilize proven components for maximum service and reliability. The unique design employs automatic temperature and pressure regulation of the refrigerant to provide the best performance over a wide range of conditions. The control system contains a safety shutdown which will activate on higher or lower than normal refrigerant pressure and can be easily reset at the dehumidistat. Other protection includes compressor overload and condensate back-up shut-down.
