Product Specifications
Each BKP Series
dehumidifier unit is factory assembled, inspected and tested to ensure maximum
performance. The standard BKP Series unit shall include the following:
CABINET
Indoor unit and outdoor remote condenser casing shall be constructed of 20
gauge galvanized (Bonderite) steel sheet. All panels outside shall be cleaned, coated with
Epoxy primer and painted with acrylic paint. The indoor unit cabinet interior shall be
lined with 1" fiberglass duct liner for thermal and acoustical insulation.
COMPRESSOR
The compressor shall be heavy duty Copelandâ
Scroll, Matsushita Rotary or equivalent hermetic type with permanent split capacitor (PSC)
motor internally protected from over-heating. The compressor shall be equipped with an
internal suspension system and external rubber vibration absorbers.
COILS AND COMPONENTS
Evaporator and condenser coils shall be constructed of seamless copper
tubing with internal microgrooves for highest heat transfer efficiency. The tubes shall be
expanded into the collars of aluminum fins to ensure tight metal to metal contact. The
coils shall be circuited so the refrigerant moves counter flow to the entering air. Copper
to copper brazing shall be made with a suitable flux and silver brazing alloy. After
brazing, each coil shall be pressure tested to 400 psig (2.86 MPa).
The suction line shall be insulated to prevent condensation from forming
and dripping into the machine. A constant pressure expansion valve shall be installed and
factory calibrated to operate efficiently at low head pressure reducing the power
consumption at low ambient. Units shall have an installed heat exchanger suction
accumulator to ensure liquid free refrigerant at the compressor. Each BKP
unit shall be precisely charged (except units with remote condenser) with refrigerant and
tested for proper performance before shipping.
REMOTE CONDENSER (BKP-AC
Series Only): The refrigerant liquid line shall include two (2) one-way
check valves and a liquid line filter dryer. A receiver shall be installed to provide
additional refrigerant for remote condenser mode. A temperature controlled valve shall be
installed to switch to either the indoor or the outdoor remote condenser. A head pressure
control in the refrigerant line controls the condenser fan operation. The total charge of
refrigerant for the indoor and outdoor units plus an additional charge for the line set is
to be weighted in at installation.
HEAT PIPES
HPTs patented dehumidifier heat pipes shall be installed wrapping
around the evaporator coil for the purpose of precooling the incoming air and reheating
the supply air. This results in increased moisture removal by the evaporator and a lower
relative humidity of the supply air. HPTs dehumidifier heat pipes are passive, but
ultra-fast heat transfer devices and are constructed with microgrooved copper tubes and
aluminum fins. They shall be evacuated and charged with the appropriate amount of working
fluid, then sealed and tested for proper operation and performance.
BLOWER, FAN AND MOTOR
Centrifugal blowers for the indoor unit shall be of the forward curved
type, statically and dynamically balanced for efficient operation. The fan motor shall be
high efficiency direct drive of the permanent split capacitor (PSC) type with sleeve
bearings.
REMOTE CONDENSER (BKP-AC
Series Only): The outdoor condenser fan blades shall be heavy duty aluminum
and shall be protected with a coated fan guard. The fan motor shall be a high efficiency
direct drive PSC type with sleeve bearings.
DRAIN PAN
Drain pan shall be constructed of 20 gauge galvanized steel coated with a
drip pan coating and have a 3/4" female NPT connection.
AIR INLET AND OUTLET
Indoor units (except BKP 100 and 175) shall have outlet
1" duct flanges. A standard filter rack is installed on the return air side of
cabinet for a disposable type fiberglass air filter.
The BKP 100 and 175 shall be manufactured with return and
supply air grilles. The grilles shall be made of aluminum with a white enamel finish. A
disposable fiberglass filter shall be installed inside the return air grille.
ELECTRICAL
Electrical control parts shall be located in an accessible enclosure
pre-wired and tested for operation. Enclosure shall contain compressor contactor, lockout
relay, start capacitor (except CopelandÒ scroll compressors),
high and low pressure switch, time delay and low voltage transformer to supply 24 volt
control power. The lockout system will shut the unit down if the system pressures exceed
limits of safety switches, or on failure of the condensate drain system.
DEHUMIDISTAT
A dehumidistat shall be installed on the unit (BKP 100
and 175 only) or supplied with other models to be remotely mounted. The dehumidistat has
an adjustable range of 10-90% RH and can be locked on a setting. A reset light and button
on the dehumidistat for indication of a lockout condition and provide for resetting.
THERMOSTAT (With Remote Condenser, BKP-AC
Series Only)
A provided thermostat to be installed inside the room to control the BKP
operation for cooling or maximum dehumidification. The thermostat shall be of the mercury
switch type with sealed contacts for protection against dirt and moisture and have an
adjustable range from 55°F to 90°F. |
